RIOHABILITACION 2024

RIO DE JANEIRO CIVIC CENTER

This project proposes the renovation of a pavilion in the gardens of Catete, in Rio de Janeiro, aiming to transform a space marked by multiple uses and renovations into a timeless and flexible structure. The intervention seeks to maximize natural light, resolve the connection with the rear courtyard, and reactivate an area currently in disuse. To achieve this, the second floor is opened up, a suspended walkway is incorporated, and the opaque roof is replaced with a skylight. The interior is conceived as an open-plan space, organized by axes that allow for variable divisions through movable elements such as curtains, partitions, and folding doors.
